Two Lakewood and one DuPont firm were listed among the top ten fastest growing companies by the Business Examiner.
Lakewood’s Northwest Commercial Bank, opened in 2001, was named the top firm among the 2007 class of fastest growing organizations, according to Business Examiner Publisher Jeff Rounce.
Farrelli’s Pizza of DuPont placed fourth and Print Northwest of Lakewood came in eighth. Farrelli’s started in 1995 and Print NW has been around since 1970
Northwest Commercial Bank President and CEO Kurt Graff accepted the glass trophy and certificate during the ceremonies held at the Tacoma Art Museum Wednesday evening. The event was attended by about 300 people. Other finalists were Fast Transact, Sound Options, BCRA, Labor Works, Rusty George Creative, Absher Construction and Huff Landscaping.
The bank was recognized for a record of 81.3 percent growth over the previous year.
Farrelli’s pizza restaurant, established in 1995, had a 45.7 percent growth while Print NW recorded a 26.6 percent growth rate for the last year.
In naming the South Sound’s fastest growing companies, accounting firm Moss Adams LLP collected and analyzed select financial data provided by the 10 finalists as well as numerous other companies. For the competition, a combined evaluation of growth in both revenue and wage expense defines company growth.
In accepting the top award, Graff indicated the bank has endured some growing pains but ultimately came out of them with new knowledge and a growth strategy that seems to be working. He lauded his staff for their hard work and dedication.
This was the third time the Business Examiner has recognized the South Sounds fastest growing companies. Major sponsors of the event, in addition to the newspaper, included Venture Bank headquartered in DuPont and Moss Adams
