The Lakewood Branch Boys & Girls Club now has a $42,000 bus courtesy of the Lakewood and Clover Park Rotary Clubs. The bus was recently turned over to the Boys & Girls Club by Bob Zawilski and Alan Billingsly, president of the two clubs.
The bus will be used for special activity transportation and other needs by the Boys & Girls Club.
The two Rotary Clubs conduct a number of fund-raising activities each year with the proceeds used for a variety of community activities, such as the bus purchase. In recent years, the Clover Park Rotary Club has provided funding for the picnic shelter at Fort Steilacoom Park that was built adjacent to the playground constructedunder the leadership of the Lakewood Rotary Club.
Clover Park Rotary meets each Wednesday noon at the Oakbrook Country & Golf Club while Lakewood Rotary holds its meetings at noon on Fridays at Tacoma Country & Golf Club.
