Mandrell Nauer, a senior at Clover Park High School in Lakewood, has been recognized as Student of the Month by the Rotary Club of Lakewood. Rotarian Bob Peterson made the presentation during a recent meeting of the club.
In nominating Nauer, CPHS Principal Principal John Seaton wrote:
“We often hear the words ‚Äòdo the right thing’ but rare is the person whose actions each and every day are measured against that standard. Mandrell Nauer is such an individual.”
Nauer is co-captain of the varsity football team showing endurance, dedication, sacrifice , resolve, intensity and leadership. “Certainly winning is a powerful thing, but more importantly, Mandrell works with the coaches and players to set the standards of character and citizenship that will be visible for years after any Friday night winning score,” Seaton added.
Nauer’s home was damaged last year by fire and he and his family suffered significant losses. He kept the faith and continued to support his family and at the same time maintained his academic standing, according to Seaton.
In addition to Seaton, CPHS football coach Jon Randall also praised Mandrell for his efforts and leadership.
The Rotary Club of Lakewood recognizes a student from the Clover Park and Steilacoom School Districts each month as well as a teacher from each district.
