Sealed bids will be received by the Town of Steilacoom, at the Public Works Building located at 1030 Roe Street, Steilacoom, Washington until 11:00 a.m. on October 10th, 2007 and will then and there be opened and publicly read for the construction of the improvements.
All bid proposals shall be accompanied by a bid proposal deposit in cash, certified check, cashier’s check, or surety bond in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the amount of such bid proposal. Should the successful bidder fail to enter into such contract and furnish satisfactory performance bond within the time stated in the specifications, the bid proposal deposit shall be forfeited to the Town of Steilacoom.
The right is reserved to reject any and all bids and to waive informalities in the bidding.
No bidder may withdraw their bid after the hour set for the opening thereof or before award of contract, unless said award is delayed for a period exceeding sixty (60) days.

Informational copies of maps, plans and specification are on file for inspection in the Public Works Office; Town of Steilacoom, Washington.
This is a federal aid project and the Town of Steilacoom will be affirmatively insuring that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, disadvantaged business enterprises will be given full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color or national origin in consideration for an award.
The improvements for which bids will be received are described below:
Bid Opening of
Steilacoom Boulevard Sidewalk Improvements
Bids are requested for sidewalk improvements to Steilacoom Boulevard from Farwest Drive to the west end of the Steilacoom branch of the Pierce County Library including but not limited to construction of approximately 960 feet and 320 feet of sidewalk including driveways, vertical curb and gutter and associated asphalt patching along Steilacoom Boulevard and Rigney Road, respectively. Improvements also include completion of an illumination system including approximately 1,100 feet of 1&1/2 inch electrical conduit, electrical junction boxes, installation of light pole foundations, installation of poles with 12′ foot arm and 250 watt heads. The project will also include the installation of a concrete island with barrier curb and pavement striping.
