Some of the most popular items in the Steilacoom Museum Store are gold hanging ornaments that commemorate icons of Steilacoom and this year there is a fourth and new edition– The Steilacoom Town Hall at Christmas. Designed by longtime resident Lenore Rogers with the Steilacoom holiday tradition in mind, this ornament features a large Christmas tree beside the beautiful Town Hall facade. The preceding ornaments in the collectible series are the Nathaniel Orr Home, the Bair Drug & Hardware Store and the Steilacoom Ferry. All are currently available and sell for $6.00 plus tax.
In addition, the Town On the Sound book which tells the early history of Steilacoom is back in print now after being unavailable for a couple of years. This long time favorite complete with historic photos is always a great gift item. It is a great volume for those new to the area’s history as well as those who may be leaving and wish a remembrance of their stay in this area.
So…where to buy these wonderful items? With the Bair Store closed while undergoing repairs and the Museum closed during the Rainier Street work, the usual store locations are not available at this time. However, you will find these items at the Museum Store booth near Town Hall during the Apple Squeeze on October 7. They can also be obtained by calling Lenore Rogers at 253-588-3591 or Marianne Bull at 253-584-9410. The purchase of these gifts benefits the Steilacoom Historical Museum Association.
