Safe Kids Pierce County is hosting their first Stroll for Safety fundraiser in DuPont on Saturday, October 6th. Come out and walk, run or push a stroller to support the ongoing efforts of Safe Kids to reduce childhood injury. The walk begins in front of Anytime Fitness at 1525 Wilmington Drive at 10am.
Safe Kids Worldwide is a global network of organizations whose mission is to prevent accidental childhood injury, a leading cause of death to children ages 1 to 14. More than 450 coalitions in 15 countries bring together health and safety experts, educators, corporations, foundations, governments and volunteers to educate and protect families.
Safe Kids Pierce County is a local coalition dedicated to prevent these injuries within our communities, focusing on programs such as helmet and life jacket fittings, car seat inspections, and injury prevention education to children and adults. Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital is the lead agency for Safe Kids Pierce County.
All proceeds from the Stroll for Safety event go towards Safe Kids Pierce County to help prevent childhood injuries. These proceeds will provide car seats, helmets and lifejackets for families in need. Don’t forget to visit the transit bus loop across from Liberty Inn to have your car seat inspected at the event.
All participants will receive a goody bag packed with healthy snacks and ideas for healthy living. After your stroll, walk or run, visit the City of DuPont Fire Department at the Fire Prevention Week event across the street in Ross Plaza for fun activities, including the Fire Prevention Trailer, engine tours and exhibit booths.
