The deadline for submitting claims for recalled sprinkler heads is August 31. There is a possibility that homes built prior to 2001 may contain the recalled sprinkler heads.
In July 2001, Central Sprinkler Company announced a recall to replace 65 different models of Central type sprinkler heads using O-Ring type water seals. These recalled heads cause corrosion, leaking, and may fail to activate during a fire.
Sprinkler heads can be self-inspected and identified in order to complete the recall process. DuPont residents should go to www.sprinklerreplacement.com and print the claim packet. On the home page, click on “How Do I Participate” then click on “New Claimant”.
If you are not able to identify the recalled heads, please schedule an inspection of your home with Fire Prevention Specialist Jenny Sharp by calling (253) 255-6025 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Appointments will be scheduled beginning Monday, August 20, 2007.
Join the City of DuPont Fire Department on Monday, August 27 at 7pm for an informational session at Chloe Clark Elementary. This session will cover the information you will need to submit the claim packet correctly, questions residents may have about the recall process, and any other general questions.
The claimant packet should be printed and available prior to the City of DuPont Fire Department arrival. Residents will also need to take two pictures of each model of recalled sprinkler head in their home to submit with the packet.
