Steilacoom Historical School District’s new middle school at DuPont continues to take shape. By early August workers were preparing to place the roof on the classroom wing section. Meanwhile the gymnasium’s exterior framework was nearing completion. The new middle school project was still ahead of schedule, although the building will not formally be ready for occupancy until Fall 2008.
According to Project Manager John Boatman, once the school is completed, there are plans to create two garden areas between the classroom wings. One will be added that when Pioneer School in Steilacoom closes next year, the historic school bell will be removed from that site and installed at DuPont.
