Nine visitors from Jiangyou, China will be visiting this area July 29th through August 10th under the auspices of the University Place Sister Cities Association.
During their stay, the Chinese visitors will be hosted by local families and will visit several local businesses and events, including the UP Fest 07. The group will be recognized by the University Place City Council at their meeting on August 6th.
Jiangyou, a city of one million people located in China’s south central Sichuan Province, has been designated University Place’s Chinese sister city. The visitors-eight students and one adult-are from Jiangyou Middle School, which has been designated as Curtis High School’s “sister school” in China.
The University Place Sister Cities Association is a non-profit organization devoted to fostering international relationships and understanding through mutually beneficial exchanges between individuals, community groups, organizations, and institutions in University Place with their counterparts in other nations.
