Soldiers from Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 57th Transportation Company will be welcomed home by family and friends Tuesday, July 17, as they return from their service in Kuwait and Iraq.
Upon arrival, the unit will conduct a ceremony to uncase their colors at Wilson Gym. After the ceremony, the Soldiers’ command will officially dismiss the Soldiers from their overseas deployment to be reunited with their loved ones.
The ceremony is currently scheduled to take place at 9 p.m. Tuesday. This time is subject to change, and will be updated as new information becomes available.
The unit deployed in July of last year, and conducted convoy operations and provided security for commercial convoys carrying fuel, ammunition, food, and other supplies into Iraq.
The 57th Transportation Company is part of 593rd Sustainment Brigade, which has had approximately 1000 Soldiers deployed at various times this past year. The 57th’s headquarters detachment was co-located with the brigade’s headquarters company and the brigade’s 497th Transportation Co., which have also returned to Fort Lewis.
