Thivanka Samaranayake and Travis Hills were recently selected as recipients of the Allen Realtors academic scholarship.
Samaranayake, a senior at Clover Park High School, and Hills, a senior at Lakes High School, will both use the $1,000 cash scholarship to help pay for their continued higher education this fall.
Samaranayake graduated with a 3.80 grade point average and plans to attend the Pacific Lutheran University where he will study biology and earn his undergraduate degree before attending medical school. He was on the varsity tennis and cross country teams and volunteered at St. Clare Hospital and the Tacoma Rescue Mission.
Hills maintained a 4.00 GPA and will attend Portland State University where he will study civil engineering. Hills played varsity soccer, was active in DECA Club, and served as a volunteer at Bread of Life Food Bank and the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life.
Mike Larson, president and designated broker of Harold A. Allen Company Realtors, and Tom Maliska, chair of the selection committee, presented the scholarships at a recent sales meeting.
