About 22 Steilacoom High School National Honor Society students helped with the 5th annual “Bark the Park” project on May 25.
The clean-up at Mary Perkins Park at the intersection of Union and Martin is a yearly community service activity for the local NHS chapter.
“It’s a difficult time of year (for the students) to be involved in community service activities,” said NHS advisor Roberta Black. “I am pleased and proud of them,” she added. Student work parties were assigned team names: Giraffe, Barracuda, Rhino and Panda–all in fun, stressed their advisor.
Fresh woodchips were scheduled to be spread at the site next week.
Once the work was completed the students chowed down on well-earned pizzas.
