Did you know that the Muses are coming to Steilacoom?
Who? The Muses, did you say? Who are they?
Some contemporary rock group that’s touring the area?
The Muses, individually known as Terpsichore, Calliope, Cleo, Polyhymnia. Erata, Urania, Euterpe, oh, and let’s not forget Thalia and Melpomene, are actually some long-ago Greek ladies said to have inspired the Arts.
On June 6, however, it’s more likely you’ll meet their present-day descendents as Saltar’s Point Elementary School hosts Arts Impact 2007.
That first Wednesday in June is the date for the school’s wrap-up of arts-related activities, set for 7-8:30 p.m.
“It’s always rewarding to see how our students interpret the Arts,” says Principal Kristi Webster.
“We’re eager to share our accumulated knowledge with the community,”
The end-of-year presentation starts at 6 p.m. and features theater, dance, visual arts and music.
The 2007 Arts Impact happening includes guests from the Office of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Steilacoom Historical School District, The Town of Steilacoom and Steilacoom Historical Education Foundation.
Perhaps, in a certain slant of light, you might glimpse one of the Muses, too.
“Plan to join us,” Ms. Webster adds.
