The Helping Hands organization of John Korsmo Construction, Inc. hosted nearly 100 Special Olympics athletes and nearly 200 spectators at the 2nd Annual Billy Stocking Special Olympics Swim Meet.
The event was held on Saturday, May 5th at the Mt. Tahoma High School Pool.
Held in honor of Billy Stocking, a former Mariner Moose and ardent Special Olympics supporter, the meet is one of the few qualifying events held in Western Washington before the state Special Olympics finals.
Stocking is the son of Will and Denise Stocking of Puyallup. He was killed in a traffic accident in January 2005. Will Stocking is a superintendent at John Korsmo Construction, Inc.
Helping Hands was created in 2003 by John Korsmo Construction employees as a way to be formally involved in community involvement. Korsmo is a family-owned and operated general contractor that has been in business since 1947.
