The sounds of clipping and snipping-a cheerful counterpoint to the clickety-clack of iron wheels rolling along the tracks-have been heard throughout the Town on the Sound as local gardeners prepare for a Steilacoom rite of spring: the Garden Club’s plant sale.
This year it’s set from 9 a.m until noon on Saturday, May 12, in downtown Steilacoom.
The lot between the Bair Store and Key Bank is the spot.
“It’s a good time to purchase cuttings from local gardens,” says Barbara Carey, Garden Club member. The inventory includes herbs, flowers, shrubs, and ground cover material, as well as pre-planted gift baskets and pots.
Sale proceeds are earmarked for garden club and town beautification projects, she added.
