An accident involving a Clover Park school bus and a van occurred at about 8:45 AM on Friday morning, April 20th at the intersection of 100th St. SW and Lakewood Dr. SW in Lakewood.
Mike Kanter of Lakewood described the actions of the van driver as rushing “like a bat out of hell,” into the intersection against the traffic light when it was struck by a school bus passing through the intersection. A second witness, unidentified, made the same claims, stating that he had been driving directly behind the van and saw it rush into the intersection against the traffic signal. No children were aboard the bus at the time. School district public relations representative Kim Prentice said the bus driver was taken to the hospital for observation and Lakewood police reports that the van driver declined treatment.
Officers cited the van driver with negligent driving after as many as five witnesses remained in the area to speak with police.
