Great grant. Greenwood teacher Nycole Reandeau recently received a $1,000 Target Field Trip Grant. The money will be used to help fund a spring tour of Tillicum Village for 60 Greenwood students.
Nycole Reandeau, a 4th/5th grade teacher at Greenwood Elementary on Fort Lewis, recently received a $1,000 grant from the Target Field Trip Grant program.
As a result, nearly 60 Greenwood students will be able to go to Tillicum Village on Blake Island.
Reandeau s grant was one of 800 teachers to receive field trip grants. More than 64,000 teachers made grant applications. Additionally, she is one of 25 Target Field Trip Grant recipients in Washington state.
“I applied online after seeing an advertisement in a national education magazine,” said Reandeau.
Over the last few years, Greenwood fourth grade teachers and I have discussed going Tillicum Village. It’s a great way for kids to visualize and conceptualize Northwest Native American culture. The field trip will reinforce our fourth grade curriculum and grade level expectations or GLEs on Native American culture,” said Reandeau.
The grant will pay for transportation and most of the costs of the Tillicum Village tour. Each year the Target gives nearly $800,000 to educators that enable more than 110,000 students to go on field trips.
