Washington State Department of Health Secretary Mary Selecky will be the featured speaker at the April 4 meeting of the 2nd & 29th District Republican Club.
Mary helped create the Department of Health in 1989 and has been its leader since 1999. She is past president of the Washington State Association of Local Public Health Officials, and the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials.
She received the 2004 McCormack Award for excellence in public health. Mary’s top priorities are tobacco prevention and control, patient safety, nutrition and physical activity, and emergency preparedness.
