More than 80 Saltar’s Point Elementary School 5th grade students were honored on Nov. 22 for academic achievement. The honorees were part of 156 former 4th grade students who took the 2006 Washington Assessment of Learning Achievement tests. The exams included assessments of reading, writing and math knowledge.
Principal Kristi Webster reported that the overall scores were as follows:
85 percent met the reading standards; 65 percent met the math standards and 70 percent met the writing standards. The reading scores, Ms. Webster said, were the highest to date.
Students achieving all three standards were presented with medals. All students received certificates of achievement.
