Applications are being accepted to fill three positions on the Pierce County Landmarks Commission. The deadline for submitting completed applications is Dec. 22.
For two of the positions, the county is seeking individuals who are practicing professionals in the fields of history, architecture or archaeology or who have professional or avocational knowledge and/or interest in community history, architectural history or archaeology.
The third position is for practicing architects or individuals with a professional/educational background in architecture.
The nine-member commission makes recommendations to the Executive and Council on historic preservation-related matters including nominations to historic registers and applications for historic road names. In addition, the commission conducts design reviews and reviews special tax valuation applications on rehabilitation of historic properties. Landmarks Commission meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the Pierce County Public Services Building (Annex).
