At 4 pm, many from Steilacoom and DuPont showed up for the groundbreaking of a new (to-be-named) middle school. The event took place on the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Steilacoom Historical School District.
From DuPont, I raced over to the All-City Tail Gate at Clover Park High School. The skies parted long enough for the 500+ in attendance to enjoy the full entertainment schedule. This second annual event appears to be on track to become a great tradition.
From Clover Park in Lakewood to Charles Wright Academy in University Place. There the annnual Headmasters Picnic was held. In addition, the sports fields, long blocked off were officially dedicated. For anyone who has driven by the campus over the last two years, there has been a dramatic transformation.
DuPont to Lakewood to University Place in about three hours. All events took place at schools and all were positive. All exhibited dedication and commitment, spirit and pride, and community.
We live in a great collection of communities. I for one will do my best to not forget that.
