Felix Manzanares, born April 6, 1932, came to Tacoma when he was 9 years old, passed away peacefully; with his wife and family who never left his side, on Sept. 4, 2006 at the age of 74. This ending his long battle with Alzheimer’s.
He bravely served in the army during the Korean War with many decorations. He retired from bus driving for Pierce Transit in 1998. He leaves behind a loving wife, Lucy, loving daughter, Deborah Johnson, who states he was her hero, 3 stepchildren, Ralph, Shaelee, and Carlos Niz, many grandchildren who will miss papa, a brother Tony Manzanarez, along with many loving family members and friends. He was an excellent artist and also a guitar player (he taught himself). What we want people to remember about him is he had a great personality and sense of humor. Also, he was always a gentleman and very loving.

He retired from the Army after 20 years of dedicated service and is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Sun Christensen. He loved animals and was an avid reader. He loved his country, his books; but most of all, he loved his wife.
