Evelyn Carlsen Burgoyne
Evelyn Carlsen Burgoyne, born November 29, 1917, left us on August 28, 2006 to join all those loved ones who passed before. It was a sweet parting with her family at the bed side, everyone having a chance to say good-bye.
Rejoining Gene, her husband of 60 years, Mom is survived by her adoring children, Diane Burgoyne, Linda (Charlie Siegmund) Bassett and David (Sue) Burgoyne, Grandchildren, Devon (Shari) Bassett, Melissa (Mike) Johnson, Jennifer Crespo, Megan (Matt) Keenan, Brianna Bassett, and Matt (Suzanne) Burgoyne, great-grandchildren, Madeline and Annie Bassett, Maren Johnson, Sarah Crespo, Rohan and baby-girl Keenan.
A nearly life-long Tacoman, Mom graduated from Lincoln High School, married Gene, lived in Shelton, Fircrest and Bellevue, then moved to the Lake Steilacoom Point house she called home for fifty years. After family, her greatest pleasure was watching the lake and all its inhabitants.
Maternal to the end, Mom helped raise three generations and loved being called “Grandma.” Her family meant everything. And as the end approached, even in deep sleep for days, she refused to leave us. It happened when we took a needed dinner break. With her dear ones gone, she was able to slip away quietly. Good-bye Mom. You will always be with us. We’ll take good care of Sis.
Special thanks to her wonderful care-givers at St.Clare’s Hospital, Manor Care and Cottesmore of Life Center. They nurtured us all and we are deeply grateful.
No service is scheduled at this time.
