Twenty eight Lakewood youth and adults from Scouting Venture Crew 53 returned from a 2-week mission trip to remote villages in the area of Cusco Peru. With the assistance of Clover Park and Lakewood Rotary, the group was able to deliver hundreds of children’s books to three newly formed libraries and over 300 pounds of badly needed clothing and shoes in this extremely remote part of Peru. The crew was also able to start a new fruit orchard for the village of Huanoquite Peru with the purchase of several hundred fruit trees. School supplies were delivered to three area elementary schools servicing several hundred youth in small adobe school houses that few resources for education.
Our crew would like to thank the two Lakewood area Rotary clubs, International Mountain Guides, Goodwill industries, SportPak.net and all the other Lakewood citizens that have helped make this project such a great success.
