Frances Beverly Peterson
Frances Beverly Peterson, 74, of Meridian formerly of Medford, Oregon passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at Grace Memory Care. Frances was born Frances Beverly Spaur on December 3, 1931 in Medford, Oregon. She married James Higgins (deceased) was the mother of three, James Louis Higgins White Water of Montana, Katherine Louise Axtell of Nampa, Idaho, and Donald Ray Higgins of Tacoma, Washington. After her first husbands death she married Leonard Peterson, (deceased). They had eight wonderful years together. They traveled all over the US including Hawaii and Alaska plus parts of Canada and Mexico. Frances is survived by her three children, six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was one of eight children four of whom are still living Opal Walden of Tacoma, Washington, Bruce Spaur of Como, Mississippi, Jack Spaur of Medford, Oregon, Donald Spaur, his daughter Tonya of Nampa, Idaho and her nephew Billy Chamberlain. She was preceded in death by both parents Fred Spaur, Pearl Spaur and three siblings Troy Spaur, Eugene Spaur and Omega Chamberlain all of Medford, Oregon. Arrangements are under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home. Interment will be in Tacoma, Washington with her second husband Leonard a kind and gentle man. The family appreciates the loving care given her by the staff of Grace Memory Care in Meridian.
Reuben G. Sandquist
Reuben G. Sandquist, born November 23, 1924 in Parkland, WA passed away peacefully on July 11, 2006. Reuben met Lois M. Fulton while attending Washington State University in 1948, and married March 19, 1955.
As a graduate from Lincoln High School, Reuben joined the U.S. Navy and served as a veteran of WWII. After a 32 year career as Regional Manager with NCR, he retired to work with the SBA and as a self-employed business consultant in the Seattle-Tacoma area. Reuben will be remembered as a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Afifi, SCORE, The Tacoma Jocks and Oakbrook Golf & County Club.
Reuben was preceded in death by his father, Henry and mother, Evelyn Sandquist, brother Richard and sister Margrete Tietz. He leaves behind his loving wife, Lois of 51 years, daughter Diane and husband Jeffrey Salter, son Mark and wife Tiffiny, four grandchildren; Michael and Kathleen Salter and Cameron and Olivia Sandquist, his sister Helen Tietz, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held at 12:30 pm on July 17, 2006 at Mountain View Memorial Park, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW Tacoma, WA. Following at 2:00 pm, will be a celebration in memory of Reuben’s life at Oakbrook Golf & Country Club, 8102 Zircon Drive SW Lakewood, WA 98498.
