There was lots of excitement in Fircrest last Wednesday (June 7) when a Black Hawk Helicopter landed on the lawn at Whittier School and the pilot and crew spent time with the students as they filed past for a look at the big helicopter.
The children tied yellow ribbons on the fence to honor American troops overseas. All of this was part of the taping of My Home Town (Comcast 76 and On Demand). Host Dorothy Wilhelm was on hand to interview Police Chief John Cheeseman, crew members, school officials, and practically anything that moved. After about an hour, the Black Hawk returned to the sky. While at the school, My Home Town taped the Pre-school graduation practice, complete with hats tossed in air, and a concert by first grade music students.
The opening of the show, “Welcome to My Home Town, Fircrest” was taped at Whittier, but not to be undone, the students at Wainwright Elementary school taped, “Welcome BACK to Fircrest”. In each case, the entire student body and staff was involved. Field Day at Wainwright will also be part of the show.
Also included in the show, are a visit to Mad Jack’s Ice Cream Store, a pet style show at Green Cottage Pets, and interviews with many Fircrest residents including long time Mayor Dave Viafore. In short, 15 different segments
will be included in the half hour show. If you want to see how it’s done, the schedule is posted at www.itsnevertoolate.com. Click on TV/My Home Town.
