Steilacoom High School Performing Arts Department’s performance of a classic Broadway Show is a must see.
If you missed the opening night performance on May 11, there are still two shows remaining; 6 p.m., May 18 and 4 p.m., May 20. Tickets are $10 and available at the door.
An enthusiastic cast featuring Shane Morris as Sky Masterson, Beth Meberg as Sgt. Sarah Brown, Rebecca Elliot as Adelaide, and Alex Domine as Nathan Detroit, kept the audience focused on the plot of this timeless musical. Joined by Alasdair Swarner (Nicely Nicely Johnson) Jorge Olmos (Benny Southstreet) and Elaine Huber (Lt. Brannigan) the talented actors/dancers/singers kept the action moving. Rex Yabut (SHS 2004) (currently attending Pierce College) made a cameo performance as Diego, the Salsa Dancer. Ole, Rex!
From the show’s opening number “I got the Horse Right Here” to the play’s happy conclusion it truly was an entertaining evening in Steilacoom.
Kudos to Director Tina Hayden, Bruce Folmer, stage band; Rachelle Welde, choral director, and Atrell Pysniak, Choreographer for combining their considerable talents to bring this Broadway fable about gamblers and missionaries to the Town on the Sound.
