Sponsored by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, May has been designated National Preservation Month across the country. In Steilacoom, the Town and the Steilacoom Historical Museum are celebrating in several ways open to the public.
On Tuesday, May 16, the Preservation and Review Board of the Town of Steilacoom is sponsoring awards which will be presented at the Town Council meeting at 5:30 p.m. These historic preservation awards will go to Patricia and Donn Laughlin, Elsie Claypool and Dennis and Donna Quackenbush for their efforts to promote preservation in the Town.
On May 24 at 6:30 p.m. the Preservation and Review Board will present a moderated panel of experts on the topic of “ Appropriate Building Materials To Use on Historic Buildings in the Historical District”. This panel will discuss windows and other structural materials and their applications in historic contexts. This is a good opportunity for local homeowners in the historic district to learn about materials appropriate for their homes.
Please plan to support these activities as history is celebrated in Steilacoom.
