Continuing a program of “One City, One Book” ¬? Lakewood reads together, Lakewood Mayor Claudia Thomas has selected C. S. Lewis’ timeless and magical classic The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe for all of Lakewood to read together.
Founded with the goal of encouraging everyone young and old to read, Mayor Thomas selected the book for its timeless themes that both adults and children can appreciate.
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is the second book of Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia, written in 1950. More than 86 million copies have been sold worldwide and recently it was turned into a major motion picture.
On Saturday, May 13, a family book discussion will be held at the Lakewood Library starting at 10:30 am. Families are invited to join in this fun session. It will include activities for children and offer opportunities for everyone to participate in the discussion.
Other related programs will take place May 18 at 6 pm at Great Lakes Mental Health Community Room and May 22 at the Lakewood Senior Center starting at 4 pm.
There will be drawings for door prizes at each event.
