Recently I questioned when the City of Lakewood’s Parks Department would mount the bicycle rack and drinking fountain at the Fort Steilacoom Park playground.
Mary Dodsworth, director of the city’s park department, contacted me after my letter was printed and told me the bike rack will be going into the park immediately.
She explained that the drinking fountain is on the schedule for installation. The city parks crew just got the water system for the park up and running after the winter shutdown so it wouldn’t have cold weather damage.
Mary also pointed out that many tasks had to be coordinated in order to get the restroom open. All things have now been done and the restroom is now operational.
I appreciate receiving the information about the plans. Everyone involved with the park and its developments wants their particular project accomplished immediately and I realize that not everything can get done to everyone’s satisfaction. The parks department staff accomplishes a great deal and I want each person to know that I appreciate their efforts.
