On Saturday, April 22 under a beautiful blue sky and a back-up canopy Pierce County, Lakewood and Steilacoom officials praised the numerous parties and individuals that contributed to the design, construction and oversight of the now open ball fields and facilities improvements at Ft. Steilacoom Park. Hundreds of kids took to the fields not even aware the ceremony was taking place.

The completion of the improvements follows on the heels of the completion of the beautiful new playground spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Lakewood and is being followed by improvements to the popular walkway that encircles Waughop Lake at the park.
The event culminated with the unveiling of a bronze plaque embedded on stone which will stand as a permanent reminder of “what we can accomplish when we all work together.”
