On Saturday, April 8, 2006 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Lakewood Ram restaurant, Lakewood Police Officers and the Lakewood Ram will be co-hosting a “Tip-A-Cop” event to raise money for Special Olympics Athletes. Lakewood Police Officers will be waiting tables, serving water and soda, selling t-shirts and wrist bands, and will arrest & complete with a documenting photo & family and friends for a donation. Last year (2005) was the first year that the newly created Lakewood Police Department participated in Special Olympics.
Due to our success, we were selected by Special Olympics of Washington as the “Rookie Department” of the year. A major component of our success last year was the Tip-A-Cop event hosted by the Ram, raising over $2,400. Our goal this year is to raise $5,000 at the Ram and $23,000.00 overall to support Special Olympics of Washington. Come out, eat a great meal, get great service and Tip-A_Cop to pay the tuition for one of these wonderful kids. If you have any questions, please contact Community Service Officer Melissa Wagner or Sergeant Alex Kasuske at 253-830-5000.
