The Board of Directors of the South Puget Sound United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) affiliate is looking to fill a board position vacancy. It is a small but growing organization seeking board members who may be interested in the mission statement:
To advance the independence, productivity, and full citizenship of people with cerebral palsy and similar disabilities. UCP of South Puget Sound is a non-profit organization, new and developing. While any experience with disabilities is a plus, only an interest in the common goal of having a positive impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities is what matters. The time requirements are attendance at a monthly meeting, the second Thursday of the month, from 6-8 PM. There are two big events on the horizon- a Bowl-a-thon on May 6th at Brunswick Narrows Plaza Bowl, 2200 Mildred Street W, and a Rainbow Festival on July 15th, so participation in helping with those events would be nice.
This could be a good opportunity for a civic-minded person to contribute to the Pierce County area, (and some surrounding counties too). This organization gets no funding from state or federal programs, for those who philosophically are opposed to too much government.
