Since Lakewood incorporated 10 years ago and established its own police force, crime in the community has been reduced consistently, Lakewood Police Chief Larry Saunders explained to a gathering of members of the Families in Business.
He explained how the department aims to reduce crime further and called on the group of business people to work with their fellow businesses and residential neighbors to form block watches.
Families in Business is an organization of couples or families whose members work together in their business. The group is open to all couples or families and meetings are held every other month, according to FIB chair Bart Dalton.
The Wednesday evening meeting at Canyon Creek Grill provided the forum for Saunders to describe how his department is targeting youth crimes, car thefts and other criminal activities.
