The Pierce County Minority Bar Association and Pierce County Juvenile Court is sponsoring its annual Youth and Law Forum on March 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the City-County Building. Last year, approximately 100 people attended this event. Youth ages 11 through 17, along with their families and community leaders, came together at the Pierce County Courthouse to discuss their views of the justice system with judges, commissioners, attorneys, law enforcement, and other law-related personnel. This is a great opportunity for youth to discuss dynamic law related issues with persons who work in all areas of law.
This year the Tacoma Police Department, King Count Sheriff’s Department, Washington State Patrol, and Lakewood Police Department are expected to participate. The focus topic will be unreasonable search and seizures, educating the youths on what to do if they are stopped or questioned by the police. There will be free pizza and free t-shirts. There will also be opportunities to win some great door prizes.
