Area residents who missed seeing the Robert Greenwald film “Wal-Mart & The High Cost of Low Price” a month ago now have another opportunity. There will be a special screening at the Lakewood Library on Thursday, January 26 at 7:00 pm. The film, being shown nationwide, has received acclaim from critics for its insightful look at the giant retailer’s way of doing business, and its impact on communities. More information about the film may be viewed at this website. The website also lists two other opportunities to view the movie in Pierce County the same week.
Host of this event is The Bridgeport Way Community Association, a group of area citizens who have opposed development of a Wal-Mart Supercenter on the northernmost stretch of Bridgeport Way in Lakewood. Limited discussion and an update on Wal-Mart activity in Lakewood and Fircrest. may follow the 90-minute screening. Doors to the library meeting room will be open at 6:30 pm.
