The University Place City Council will take another look at allowing some types of drive-through businesses in its town center zone between 35th and 40th streets. A public hearing on the subject is scheduled for Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
The hearing will focus on low-impact drive throughs such as pharmacies and banks as opposed to fast-food restaurants and gas stations. The council will also take a look at how to deal with converting high-impact drive throughs that already exist in the town center zone to low-impact drive throughs if the council decides to allow them. The council earlier this year voted not to allow any new drive throughs in the town center area.
