On Nov. 1, the Lakewood Police Department celebrated one full year of autonomy after assuming full responsibility of the City of Lakewood from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
Along with celebrating this first milestone, the Lakewood Police Department took time to honor the exceptional men and women who tirelessly serve the city. Awards presented included:
Medals of Meritorious Service to Officer Sean Conlon and Detective John Unfred for demonstrating exceptional performance above and beyond the call of duty.
Police Chief’s Commendation to Sgt. Mark Eakes, Officer Cherilyn Gumm, Officer Adam Leonard, Detective Dennis McCrillis, Detective Steve Parr, Officer James Syler, and Officer Michael Wiley for their professionalism in conduct or performance.
Police Chief’s Citizen Commendation to Jaime Holquin, Johnnie Johnson, Frank and Sondra Schilling, and Bill Sullivan for their efforts in assisting the department achieve its mission.
Volunteer Awards: Michael Cox, Bill Harman, Annette Harrey, Mike and Sharron Kanter, Kristy Kernen, Dale Mellinger, Terry Roy, and Madeline Wivel were all honored for completing at least 100 hours of volunteer work with the Lakewood Police Department.
Brick Awards also honored many others for their instrumental roles in building programs within the department..
