Pierce College and Bates Technical College will team up to host two free informational workshops for displaced homemakers Nov. 22 and Dec. 6. Staff members from the two schools will conduct the sessions, titled “Opening Windows of Opportunity.” The Washington State Displaced Homemakers program is sponsoring the workshops.
The events are scheduled for Nov. 22 at the Tillicum Community Center, 14916 Washington Ave., S.W., in Lakewood, and Dec. 6 at the Tacoma Housing Authority Family Investment Center at Salishan, Room 101. The center is at 1728 East 44th St., in Tacoma. Both workshops are scheduled to last from 9 a.m. to noon. The public is invited to attend.
The workshops will offer information about the skills employers are seeking, how displaced homemakers can transfer their skills to the workplace, and how to develop current strengths through education and training. College staff will be available throughout the workshops to share information about college and community resources.
