Pierce County will kick off construction of the Chambers Bay golf course Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 11:00 a.m.
County Executive John W. Ladenburg, District 7 Councilman Terry Lee and Public Works and Utilities Director Brian Ziegler will be joined by other county officials, representatives from the City of University
Place, President and Chief Design Operator Bruce Charlton of the Palo Alto-based Robert Trent Jones II, LLC and other participants for the public event. The location is at Chambers Creek Properties, 6320
Grandview Drive W., University Place.
The project is moving into the construction phase following County Council action Sept. 13 authorizing the sale of $20.77 million in general obligation bonds to finance construction of the golf course and integrated trail system.
The golf course is to be constructed within the 930-acre Chambers Creek Properties, a former gravel mine overlooking Puget Sound. The course is scheduled to open in May 2007.
