Ron Cronk moved into the leading position for Lakewood City Council Position 1 at about 10 p.m. on primary night. He was trailing Bruce Banfield by 42 votes after the first count, but then took a 51-vote lead. Leslie Swalley, the next closest candidate, trailed Cronk by 158 votes.
The incumbents it the other three races maintained health leads over their challengers as the count progressed.
Pad Finnigan, who currently holds City Council Position 2, had 2,680 votes to Jason Whalen’s 1,968 votes and Mike Brandsetter’s 1,257 votes.
Helen McGovern, who currently holds City Council Position 3, had 3,120 votes to Lisa Ikeda’s 1,849 and Paul Calta’s 921.
Doug Richardson, current Lakewood Mayor and holder of City Council Position 5, had 3,547 to J. Paul Wagemann’s 1,701 and Anthony Belford’s 629.
