Submitted by Steilacoom Kiwanis Club Christine Fletcher of the Steilacoom Kiwanis Club presents a check for $300 to Barbie Gonzalez, Cherrydale Music Teacher. This mini-grant helps to off-set the cost of the students participating in the Seattle Symphony recorder concert at Benaroya Hall next month.
Alyson Marquardt,an 8th grader from Pioneer Middle School, recently spent a week at the Capitol working as a page for the Washington State Senate. Alyson was one of 22 students who served as Senate pages for the 12th week of the 2017 legislative session.
Maria Gonzalez, a student at Charles Wright Academy, traveled to Olympia to serve as a page in the state House of Representatives the 12th week of the 2017 legislative session, March 27-31. She was sponsored by Rep. Dick Muri, R-Steilacoom.

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. This Chinese proverb became the theme for Cherrydale Primary School music teacher Barbie Gonzales and her 3rd grade students as they prepared to reach their goal of playing with the Seattle Symphony.
