It’s always a treat to go time traveling around the Lakewood/Steilacoom/DuPont region.
Especially this time of year when local museums offer many opportunities to see how the holidays were celebrated back in the day.
This past Saturday, Dec. 10, visitors braved the seasonal precipitation to enjoy guided tours to four remaining, restored buildings at Historic Ft. Steilacoom. See more photos from the event at the Historic Fort Steilacoom website.
Besides the opportunity to peek inside the Officer’s Quarters, view the dancing in Quarters 2, re-enactors also portrayed enlisted soldiers, and, in Quarters 4, there was the opportunity to learn about where the soldiers went after the fort officially closed in 1868! Alaska! Who would have known?
