Sis Productions present “Paper Angels” at the Dukesbay Theatre in the Marino Arts building in downtown Tacoma; the play by Ginny Lim is directed by David Hsieh.
“Paper Angels is based on true stories of real people who immigrated to the United States during the year 1915. The play offers an intimate look into the lives of several people passing through the West Coast Immigration Center of Angel Island in San Francisco Bay.
In one story, Chin Moo, a 59-year-old woman awaits permission to join her husband who previously immigrated to America and worked for years dreaming of the day he would be reunited with his bride when he finally saved enough money to send for her – which he finally did after 40 years!
This Northwest premier of “Paper Angels” opens at Dukesbay at 508 Sixth Ave., upstairs in the Merlino Art Center August 7 and continues through August 16; the production moves to Seattle for another two weeks.
