Lakewood’s first-ever Maker Festival will be held at the Pierce College Science Dome on Saturday, August 24, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The primary collaborators to make this a reality have been Pierce College, Communities in Schools, the Lakewood Pierce County Library, and the Computer Clubhouse in the hopes of inspiring young people to become innovators.
In true “maker” fashion, the budget for the event is $0.00.
Organizers are looking for a sponsor to purchase white cotton t-shirts (25 small, 25 medium, 25 large, and 25 XL) that could either be blank (about $400) or printed with “Lakewood MakerFEST, sponsored by [insert your company name]” (about $700).
MakerFest presenters and volunteers could then go home with a t-shirt – which of course they will “make” or customize when they arrive to set-up.
Businesses that inspire “making” are encouraged to have information tables at MakerFEST – and of course we want everyone to come and see what making is all about also.
